Pink Nintendo DS Lite

The design of the pink DS is based on Nintendo Game and Watch pocket games from the 1980s. These were simple hand held games played on a single screen that could also act as a clock and alarm.

The pink DS features two screens (DS stands for Dual Screen). The lower screen is touch sensitive. This allows the DS to play games in a way unique to this console as no other have this ability. Another unusal feature for a games console and a first for a handheld game console is that the pink Nintendo DS comes with an inbuilt microphone. This is used in certain games for example in some games you blow your pink DS to make bubbles. In Nintendogs for example, you need to say your dog's name to get them to come to you.

The Pink Nintendo DS is one of a variety of colours that the Nintendo DS comes in. The pink Nintendo DS is available in two versions; the original Nintendo DS and Pink DSi.

The pink DS Lite has all the features of the original pink DS but is slimmer and weighs less. This model also has brighter screens as well as several other more minor improvements. The Nintendo DSi console will have some extra features.

Just in case you are unsure, the pink Nintendo DS has all the exact same features as any other, the colour is the only difference.

Pink Nintendo DS Games

The majority of Pink Nintendo DSs are owned by females, as such there are a large number of games designed specifically for females. in particular the Imagine series consists of a number of games designed around activities young girls supposedly enjoy. This series includes;
# Imagine: Baby Club
# Imagine: Modern Dancer
# Imagine: Fashion Model
# Imagine: Champion Rider
# Imagine: Fashion Designer New York

Nintendo Pink DS

It is somewhat ironic that pink is seen as a female colour which girls love but boys dislike. Less than 100 years ago it was indeed seen as a boys colour. In the 1900s most boys preferred the pink DS (obviously the DS lite and DSi was not available in those days) while girls would pick the blue DS. Back then pink was seen as a bold colour and more fitting of males. Assigning a colour to a gender is as ridiculous as stating that tails on a coin is for boys and heads is for girls.

So for whatever reason, girls seem to prefer the pink Nintendo DS Lite and boy prefer anything but pink.
